The COVID 19 Community Initiative was a joint venture between Sustainable Connections, Craft Talk and Creative Reuse Toronto during the first wave of COVID-19 in Canada, from April to August 2020. The goal of the initiative was to organize and facilitate the creation of kits of homemade masks and other PPE (personal protective equipment), and to distribute them where they were needed by our partners.
At a time when both government and industry could not react quickly enough to provide PPE - you put aside your own fears and needs, and responded by donating or making cloth masks that were desperately needed by health workers, and other essential services and agencies serving vulnerable people. This is true Community action! From our Collective that ran this community initiative - from the bottom of our hearts - a huge thank you for all you have done and your continued support! You made an amazing impact by supporting and participating in the Sewing for Change COVID-19 Community Initiative. See all we have accomplished together! The Sewing for Change COVID-19 Community Initiative is no longer in operation. If you would like to continue supporting this work, then please visit the new project from Craft Talk that is continuing to make masks for people at The Mask Project. |
